St Margaret's Pupil is Top in the Country
St Margaret’s School in Exeter was utterly delighted to learn that Rhiannon Fuller, now reading Modern Languages at Trinity College, Cambridge, gained full marks, the highest score of all the candidates who sat WJEC’s A Level French last summer. Rhiannon’s achievement has been marked by WJEC with a special certificate and prize. She also received a personal letter from Gareth Pierce, WJEC’s Chief Executive congratulating her on such tremendous results. He wrote, “an outstanding achievement and evidence of the hard work that you and your teachers put into preparing for the examinations.”
Studying French in addition to German at A level, Rhiannon had already gained a distinction in the Advanced Extension Award, normally taken at the end A level, when she was in her first year of A level study. Rhiannon thrives on linguistic challenges and participated in several school exchange trips, as well as supporting a Yr 8 culinary trip to France.
Rhiannon attended Bickleigh-on- Exe primary school before coming to St Margaret’s for her Senior School education. Studying Music at A level, for which she gained an A grade, she is a talented Grade 8 flautist who made a valuable contribution to several school ensembles, notably leading the Wind Band and 'Flute Cocktail'.
A highlight of her musical career was taking part in a masterclass with Gareth Davies, principal flautist with the London Symphony Orchestra, organised by the British Flute Society. Current Sixth Form students are looking forward to some language workshops which Rhiannon is, with her characteristic generosity, running in her Easter break from Cambridge.
