Careers
We are keen that you should always be thinking about your future – right from the beginning of Senior School.
So in Year 7, you consider ‘Then and now’ (changing occupations), in Year 8, ‘What is Work?’ We encourage parents in ‘Take Your Daughters to Work Day’ and are always very interested in the feedback we get from this!
In Year 9 the main focus of lessons is the choices for GCSE, in Year 10 it is on raising self awareness and developing employability skills.
As you consider your AS choices, you also think about preparing for Work Experience at the end of Year 11.
All Sixth Formers are encouraged to do more and to go on Career or University experience courses. There are also timetabled ‘drop-in’ sessions for the Sixth Form. All other students are welcome to use the main careers room for research or for a one-to-one consultation.
In addition we hope to have a range of lunch-time talks from visiting speakers covering diverse topics such as careers in the BBC, Forensic Science, Medicine or Anthropology.
Annual events include our Higher Education Convention Day.
