Scholarships and Bursaries

Bursaries, Scholarships and Awards

St Margaret’s School wishes to attract and assist able girls to join or continue their education at the School. St Margaret’s grants a number of different types of awards which are worth from 10% to 50% of tuition fees and which are all reviewable on an annual basis

Academic Scholarships are based on entrance or other test performance and are reviewed annually by the Education Committee on the criterion of sustained academic performance. All pupils who sit entrance exams will automatically be considered for these awards.

Parents who wish the school to consider their daughter for any of the following Awards should complete the relevant section of the Pupil Registration Form.

Music Scholarships are based on auditions and are reviewed annually by the Education Committee on the criteria of sustained musical performance and commitment.

Art Scholarships (Sixth Form) are based on a portfolio review and are reviewed annually the Education Committee on the criteria of sustained artistic contribution and commitment.

Drama Scholarships (Sixth Form) are based on auditions and are reviewed annually by the Education Committee on the criteria of sustained dramatic performance and commitment.

Council Awards are based on academic merit and parental financial circumstances and are reviewed annually by the Education Committee on the criteria of sustained academic progress and continuing financial need.

In the case of Council Awards, parents should complete a Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances Form which can be obtained from either the Admissions Secretary of the Bursar. As the school is a registered charity, parents will be required to provide proof of income and other financial circumstances. If the parental joint income exceeds £27,000 per annum, it is unlikely that an Award would be made. Council Awards are means tested and reviewed on an annual basis.

The maximum total value of any Scholarship or Award is 50% of school fees.

If you have any queries regarding the financial and practical support St Margaret’s provides for its prospective and current pupils, please contact, in the first instance, the Admissions Secretary on 01392 491699.
