Welcome from the Headmaster
The School’s website can only give a flavour of life at St Margaret’s, so I will give you my vision of the kind of place it is:
It is a school where pupils are happy. They are happy because they can explore their potential and try out new things. Whether this is pursuing their hunger for History at Oxford or fulfilling their acumen for Art by producing superb exhibitions, we value each and every pupil.
Our small class sizes and family-feel allow all pupils to discover ways of learning that suit their needs. Our teachers are experienced in encouraging and supporting our pupils as they enquire, experiment and question the world around them.
There is a strong sense of community. From the Nursery to the Sixth Form, pupils look after, talk and share with each other. There are opportunities such as Drama Productions, Musical Performances, Science Roadshows, assemblies and house activities for all age groups to enjoy working and playing together.
It is a school where expectations are high, beginning with how we treat each other and our environment, to standards of appearance, and then to always striving to achieve our very best. Academically, pupils are guided and targeted to aim for – and we achieve – excellent value-added. The encouragement extends to extra-curricular activities, too. Our music, art, drama are second to none and the programme of outdoor activities is exceptional, with our Duke of Edinburgh programme, sport, Ten Tors and CCF. These opportunities allow everyone to develop their talents, discover their strengths and grow in confidence.
Do come and visit us and experience life here for yourself. You will be very welcome.
