Wednesday 12th March Chemistry Show Dr Trimming led a fantastic series of demonstrations involving chemical explosions and the science behind them! There were screaming and exploding jellybabies, brilliant flashes of magnesium, strange metals that exploded in contact with water and the pièce de résistance setting fire to a teacher! This remarkable spectacle was carefully controlled and involved creating bubbles of washing-up liquid filled with methane which were then held by a member of staff and set alight. Very Harry Potter…Incendio!!! |
