German Exchange

Chocolate was high on the agenda when Year 9 and 10 pupils visited Baden-Württemberg. . . .

Girls were thrilled to be able to visit the Ritter chocolate factory and participate in a workshop, making their own chocolate bars and decorating their packaging.  Delicious!

Real friendships were forged.  We took part in a variety of lessons at our partner school, the Friedrich-Eugens-Gymnasium, a mixed grammar school in the busy city of Stuttgart.

Learning Physics in German was deemed “quite tricky” but everyone rose to the challenge. Everyone in the English group grasped the opportunity to speak some German and the Year 10 pupils, who were visiting for the second time, felt  linguistically much more confident this year.

The German host families could not have been kinder and everyone came back laden with Christmas gifts and home made Christmas biscuits.  All our travel was by public transport and we grew increasingly adept at dealing with underground trains, trams, buses, city trains and regional trains. . . .

In June we are really looking forward to the German group’s visit to Exeter, when we will have the chance to repay the warmth and hospitality we received in Stuttgart.
