GERMAN EMBASSY
Mrs Grundberg was delighted to be invited by Dr. Eckhard Lübkemeier, the German Chargé d’Affaires, to visit the German Ambassador’s Residence in Belgrave Square in London this week. She attended the “Sommerfest” as part of a celebration of excellence in German teaching in the UK. Mrs Grundberg said that she felt honoured to represent St Margaret’s at such an exciting and auspicious event and noted that St Margaret’s was one of only two schools from the South West that was involved, and the only independent school from this area. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting and speaking to Sir Trevor Macdonald, the keynote speaker and to Dr Lübkemeier himself. Sir Trevor is a great supporter of foreign languages and in her conversation with him, he agreed that, for our young people today, learning foreign languages and thereby gaining an understanding of different cultures is crucial to future international relations and cooperation. An excellent opportunity for our pupils’ outstanding record in language learning and for the teaching of languages here at St Margaret’s to be celebrated!
