Year 13 Celebration day
On Thursday 21st May, our Year 13 girls celebrated their last day of school before embarking on study leave for their A Level exams in June.
As staff arrived at school they were confronted with a locked staff room, but with a little “persuasion” from our Head of Sixth Form, the doors were unbarred to reveal a marvellous party spread and banner from the girls to say ‘thank you’ for all their teachers’ hard work during the girls’ school career.
To add to the fun, all Year 13 arrived for the day in fancy dress, with five smurfs being very obvious with their bright blue faces. Later in the morning the Head Girl team lead the rest of the year 13 girls in a dance along to YMCA for the entertainment of the whole school!
The girls were then treated to a barbeque outside with Mrs Hutchings, Head of Sixth Form and their tutors, Mrs Shaw, Mrs Prowse and Miss Kilbride cooking up a storm. Having played party games in the sunshine, the morning concluded with a time of reflection together led by Mrs Hutchings.
At midday an ice cream van arrived and the girls were waved off, ice cream in hand, ready for the hard work to come over the next month.
The traditional Leavers’ dinner for students and staff took place the previous Friday, May 15th, when the school hall was transformed by Mrs McClune and Mrs Maxwell and a wonderful meal prepared by the catering team. Drinks in the library started the evening in style, with the icy Pimms being just what was needed on a summer’s day, and the formal dinner was concluded with the whole year group photograph on the stairs. It was lovely to see the girls in their beautiful dresses and a lovely way to celebrate their years at the school.
