Year 10 Open Day
Newnham College,
Cambridge University

Mrs Searle took us to Newnham College in Cambridge for a Year 10 Open Day.  We travelled up on the Friday and let’s just say the accommodation was ‘interesting’.  BUT the grounds were beautiful and the architecture was stunning.

Highlights included:

  • Dr Ute Stock’s kind welcome followed by an ice-breaking bingo activity.
  • Borianna Borieva’s lecture questioning whether castles are purely defence or a medieval show home.
  • Some rather tricky manoeuvring of the wheelchair, which the Porter kindly lent to Charlotte.
  • Dr Patel’s insightful lecture on Cancer Biosensors.

The day also involved a tour of the facilities and student accommodation.

The best bit though was sitting in the sunny gardens, grilling a student about University life at Cambridge and Mrs Searle gaining her wheelchair driving license!!!

We even managed to find Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station, as muggles the wall did not work!

Thank you to Mrs Searle and everyone involved in organising it.
