Welcome to the
New Headmistress

The whole school wishes our outgoing Headmistress, Rowan Edbrooke, the very best of luck in her new position as the Headmistress of St. Helen and St. Katharine School in Abingdon.  We also welcome Sheila Cooper as our new Headmistress and wish her every success.

Sheila Cooper, previously Deputy Head of St. Edward’s in Cheltenham said.

“St. Margaret’s brings out the very best in its girls, with all their different talents and abilities.  I am thrilled to take over a school offering so many opportunities and with such a wonderful ethos.

I want to continue and strengthen that special brand of all round high aspiration.  As one of 40 UK schools in the Woodard Corporation, we have a clear, tangible Christian ethos.  I am sure that the next few years will bring exciting developments.”

As a keen musician (married to another musician) Sheila will be keen to enjoy St. Margaret’s strong traditions in the performing arts.  After graduating from Oxford with a first-class degree, she taught Classics and ICT in Norwich and Cambridge girls’ schools.  Her interests range from allotment gardening to learning Mandarin alongside the students at her present school (a truly enlightening experience and great fun!).  Born on the Isle of Wight, she looks forward to taking up sailing.
