A Level Geography Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors competition

Two groups, eight people and five hours to change the world... the sweat was streaming down our faces. The whistle blew and we were off; pens and rulers flying about the room... the other 92 people gaping as they flew over their heads. Our aims: to design or redevelop an area of land in Plymouth. Our mission came in the form of two posters and a press release, designed to tell people about our amazing plans. The overall winner would receive a prize beyond their wildest dreams. We were put into a coach to visit the site we were planning for and had to sit close to the enemy who were trying to read our ideas! As we gazed upon the bleak site of Mount Battle we thought back to the journey here where we all complained about being hungry and Hannah and Emma accompanied our complaints with High School Musical songs. We soon arrived back at the university and thinking we had donkey’s years to complete our mission... we had lunch. A delicious feast was laid out before us and we piled our plates high! Then the panic set in as we realised we only had an hour and a half to finish, so a bit more sweat poured from our foreheads as we made full use of the rainbow of felt pens provided. The last ten minutes were upon us as we wrote our press releases in a flurry, stuffed our faces with more cakes and got interrogated by scary looking judges. Then we waited for a nerve racking hour as the judges considered our efforts... Both our teams were placed into the final Six!! So Steph and I grabbed a few more cakes for the journey home and we all celebrated our success! We would all like to say thank you to Mrs Forbes and her amazing driving!
