Record-breaking
2009 Results
St Margaret’s celebrated its best ever A Level results this year, beating all its own records!  The girls achieved A or B grades in 80% of all their subjects, and 50% at A grade alone.

At GCSE girls celebrated some wonderful GCSE results: there were genuine individual triumphs as girls achieved results exceeding their expectations.

Carol Service
The lights were turned out inside Exeter Cathedral on Tuesday for a special candlelit procession to 'O Come All Ye Faithfull' at the start of St Margaret's Scool carol service. Led jointly by the school's Chaplain Mrs Jane Frost and the Dean, Jonathan Meyrick, pupils and their families filled the cathedral for a service in which the emphasis was on the true message of Christmas.

The message of Christmas was the theme for St Margaret's annual Nativity. Boys and Girls from Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep took part in this magical journey back through time to Christ's birth in Bethlehem through the medium of music and drama.

A Murder is Announced!!!
Last night we had a fantastic performance at St Margaret’s first Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre. Set in the Regal Hotel “Chicago’s finest” in 1929 a plot of murder and intrigue unfolded performed by 6th form Drama students, as Mrs Clarke and her GCSE Home Economics students served a three course meal in traditional 1920s waitress outfits.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards are a major part of life at St Margaret’s School. Significant numbers of girls achieve the Gold Award each year and the most recent group of Gold Award girls have just returned from India.

Callington Space Day
A space science adventure kept Year 5 and Year 6 students enthralled on Friday 2nd October 2009. Clive Purchase, a visiting astronomer from the Callington Space Centre, encouraged the students to participate in this exciting learning adventure. Students from schools in the local area also came along for the workshop.

Mandarin Classes
This new club, on a Wednesday lunchtime, is open to Years 3 – 8, provides lots of insight into Chinese culture. 

Mrs Stone will also be taking a class at 6pm on a Wednesday evening (lasting one hour), which will also be open to adults. We are keen to encourage parents, staff and family friends to join this early-evening class.

Holiday Club
Children attending the school’s Holiday Club have been busy carving pumpkins and making decorations in preparation for a Halloween celebration on Friday. The Holiday Club is open to all boys and girls from ages 3-8, not just St Margaret’s pupils, and offers a range of activities including arts and crafts, sport and, this week, spooky goings-on.

The hotel we stayed at was called The Royal National (in Russell Square). After dropping our bags off at the hotel we took a tube to the Science Museum where we watched a show about explosions. After the show we went to the launch pad and everyone found a Science game they loved. Then we had a meal at Pizza Express

Lammas Fair
Zoe Williams won the Lammas Fair painting competition. The Lord Mayor invited Zoe to join him and his Deputy Lord Mayor at the Guildhall for the historic Lammas Fair declaration. As part of the prize, arrangements will also be made for Zoe to travel from home to school in the Lord Mayors limousine. Congratulations!

When we got to the beach we put our bags on the floor in the centre. Then we went to the beach and played shell hunt. Then we sorted the shells. There were mussels, razor shells and cockle shells, periwinkles, limpet and otter shells.

As staff arrived at school they were confronted with a locked staff room, but with a little “persuasion” from our Head of Sixth Form, the doors were unbarred to reveal a marvellous party spread and banner from the girls to say ‘thank you’ for all their teachers’ hard work during the girls’ school career.

Exam Results 2008
St Margaret’s girls celebrated fabulous GCSE and A Level results this year. 

At GCSE Ten girls swept the board, passing all their exams with A* or A grades: 59% of all St Margaret’s GCSE grades were an A* or an A and 88% gained A* -B grades.

Eleven Pupils from Year 9 signed up to experience the thrills and spills of a weekends surfing at Woolacombe .On loading the very full minibus on the Thursday evening it was soon apparent that the girls had taken heed of the poor weather forecast and packed nearly all of their belongings in some cases!
